2010 Spirit of Innovation Award

This Conrad Foundation awards program is an annual competition that challenges teams of high school students to create innovative products for use in one of four categories: aerospace exploration, space nutrition, renewable energy, and green schools. Teams and their coaches will compete for more than $100,000 in cash prizes; be designated as Pete Conrad Scholars; have the opportunity to commercialize their products for general market use; and receive annual memberships to the Conrad Foundation, Sigma Xi, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and the National Science Teachers Association—the Foundation’s official education advisor.

AT&T Aspire is a $100 million initiative to address high school success and college and workforce readiness. This program is AT&T’s most significant education initiative to date and one of the largest corporate commitments ever to address high school success and workforce readiness. The $100 million AT&T Aspire program includes four key components:
* Grants to school districts, school district foundations and nonprofit organizations focused on high school retention and preparing students for college and/or the workforce. As part of this commitment, the AT&T Foundation launched a new grant program focused on high school success for at-risk students.

Disney announced a new granting initiative to supplement its free environmental learning competition for fourth through sixth grade classrooms, Disney’s Planet Challenge. Disney is collaborating with DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that connects individual “citizen philanthropists” with classrooms in need, to match donations and fund 50 percent of each Disney’s Planet Challenge classroom environmental science project that qualifies.
Disney is providing a $100,000 grant to DonorsChoose.org that will be applied towards the Web site’s “Double Your Impact” feature which will fund 50 percent of environmental science classroom projects for Disney’s Planet Challenge, a program developed by Disney in collaboration with NSTA, West Ed K–12 Alliance and a number of federal and state government agencies. Intel Schools of Distinction

Every year, Intel honors U.S. schools demonstrating excellence in math and science education through innovative teaching and learning environments. To be considered as an Intel School of Distinction, schools must develop an environment and curricula that meet or exceed benchmarks put forth by national mathematics and science content standards.
Up to three schools at each level—elementary, middle, and high school—will be named as finalists in the math and science categories. These 18 schools will receive a cash grant of USD 5,000 from the Intel Foundation and a trip to Washington, D.C., for a four-member team from their school and district. Six winners will be selected from the finalists and receive a USD 10,000 cash grant. One of these winners will be selected as the “Star Innovator” and will receive a USD 25,000 grant. All five winning schools and the Star Innovator will also receive products and services from program sponsors.

NWTF Conservation Educator of the Year Award

This year, one teacher will receive more than a shiny apple for their hard work in the classroom.
The NWTF is continuing its Conservation Educator of the Year Award program to recognize educators who demonstrate the most innovative use of the Wild About Turkey Education Box and also demonstrate a commitment to teaching conservation education in the classroom. The winner will receive recognition and a grant to fund a conservation education project the following school year. The winner receives a plaque and a $1000 grant to fund a conservation education project in his or her classroom the following school year and will be recognized at the NWTF annual Convention and Sports Show.
Outdoor Classroom Grant Program

The Outdoor Classroom Grant Program provides outdoor, hands-on science education to students in grades K-12 and assists schools in enhancing their core curriculum in all subjects.
This school year, the program will award grants up to $2,000 to at least 100 public schools. In some cases, grants for up to $20,000 may be awarded to schools or school districts with major outdoor classroom projects. The grants can be used to build a new outdoor classroom or to enhance a current outdoor classroom at the school. This program only considers outdoor classroom proposals.
Outstanding Young Educators Award

Nominations for the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development’s Outstanding Young Educator Award must be made before April 15th and October 15th of each year. To be eligible, teachers and administrators must be under 40 years of age and “demonstrate exemplary commitment and exceptional contribution to the profession.” Educators can work with any grade level or with any subject area. For the current award, nominations may be made beginning in March 2008. For additional information, email oyea@ascd.org. In addition to a $10,000 check, the winner is honored with a personal profile in Educational Leadership magazine, an all-expense paid trip for the winner and a guest to the ASCD annual conference, professional development opportunities, membership in ASCD, and worldwide recognition in the education community.

Siemens We Can Change the World 2011

In addition, they are familiar with today’s tools and technologies that can help influence others creating impact beyond their local community.
The Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge gives students the opportunity, tools and inspiration to become those agents of change.
